Visual outcomes following customized laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in myopic and hyperopic eyes with and without astigmatism

چکیده
The use of wavefront-guided algorithms for treatment has increased over the past decade with estimates that up to 50 percent of all laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) procedures are now performed with this approach1. Although originally intended to correct higher order aberrations, the use of wavefront-guided algorithms, particularly those with iris-registration and tracking, have been shown to benefit patients with lower order aberrations (sphere and cylinder)2,3. This is likely due to the fact that no or fewer higher order aberrations are induced during the procedure4. In the study presented here, we used a wavefrontguided algorithm (CustomVue) with iris registration to treat myopic and hyperopic patients, with and without

Clinical outcomes of wavefront-guided laser in situ keratomileusis to treat moderate-to-high astigmatism
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the refractive and visual outcomes of wavefront-guided laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in eyes with myopic astigmatism and cylindrical component ≥2.0 diopter (D). METHODS In this retrospective study, 611 eyes that underwent LASIK for simple or compound myopic astigmatism were analyzed. Preoperative refractive cylinder ranged from -2.00 D ...

Introduction: Today, Lasik surgery is one of the most common and effective procedures for correction of refractive errors. Less than 1% of patients undergoing Lasik operation suffer from serious and 3-5% suffers from mild complications. Also, results of lasik in most centers are promising. With the recent inauguration of the Lasik center of Yazd, it was decided to evaluate the results and compl...

متن کاملRefractive and Aberration Outcomes after Customized Photorefractive Keratectomy in Comparison with Customized Femtosecond Laser
To compare the refractive and visual outcomes and higher order aberrations in patients with low to moderate myopia who underwent customized photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) or femtosecond laser in situ keratomileusis (Femto-LASIK) this research performed. This study includes data of 120 consecutive eyes of 60 patients with myopia between -3.00 D and -7.00 D with or without astigmatism in two s...
متن کاملTop 5 pearls to consider when implanting advanced technology IOLs in patients with unusual circumstances.
The mainstay of treatment for those with hyperopic astigmatism who wish to bypass the need for glasses or contacts has traditionally been laser treatment. Both hyperopic laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) and photorefractive keratotomy (PRK) have been used to correct hyperopic astigmatism. Although LASIK can provide promising results for a portion of patients with hyperopic eyes, it becomes l...
